I used to live in Seattle in a basement apartment and slugs, huge slugs would often show up. The funny thing is when I come home or wake up and turn the lights on, you could see them trying to flee for their life leaving a trail of slime. I never killed them but would do my best to remove them. They would ALWAYS come back and leaned to live with them. Sometimes I would actually leave food for them. This is how I came up with Fremont. 
When I say things before I think about them, they come out in Fremont's voice. This way I have no reprocussions.
